About This Call
The Kent Digital Art Project 2025 seeks digital and video media artists to create content for projection at Kherson Park (307 West Gowe Street). A large screen (approximately 30' x 20') located on the side of a building facing south toward Gowe Street is visible to the public from Kent-Kherson Park, as well as the sidewalks and streets at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and Gowe Street. Works are displayed in rotation during presentation hours, generally dusk to 11 p.m. daily.
Up to five artists will be selected to present from one to three artworks for a period of one year. Artworks should be five minutes or less in length and may include sound, though sound is not required. Each selected artist will receive a $500 honorarium. Artists' names and artwork titles will be posted on the screen before and after the work plays. Selected artists will work with Arts Commission staff to adapt selected work for optimal presentation. Final videos should be compressed with an H264 Codec wrapped in either MP4 or MOV format, with a file size cap of 1GB, and will be played back at 1920x1080 resolution.
Applicants must submit an artist statement, current resume or CV (PDF), and a video file or link (YouTube or Vimeo). Video file specifications: MOV, MP4, WMV, 3GP, AVI, ASF, MPG, M2T, MKV, M2TS format; under 100 MB; minimum 640 x 480 resolution, maximum 1920 x 1080; 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio; recommended bit rate above 240 kbps; minimum 12 fps frame rate, recommended 30 fps. A selection panel including Kent Arts Commission representatives, professional artists, a City councilmember, and community representatives will review submissions. This opportunity is open to artists residing in the United States, age 18 and older. Deadline: September 26, 2025, 11:59 p.m. PDT.
