Keller Public Library Mural

This mural project is a collaborative initiative between the Keller Public Library and the Keller Public Arts Board seeking to commission a Texas artist to design and paint an original mural inside the Keller Public Library meeting room. The mural will replace existing wallpaper and serve as a backdrop for public programs, photographs, meetings, and a wide variety of community events. The design should be library-themed, visually engaging, family-friendly, and versatile enough to support the multifunctional use of the meeting room.

The mural will span the upper portion of a 50-foot-long interior wall, covering the top three-quarters of the surface, with the lower portion finished in wood paneling by the City. The wall includes three doors, which the Artist must integrate into the final design. The selected Artist will paint the mural directly onto the prepared wall surface using professional materials and must apply a durable protective coating to ensure long-term preservation against scuffs, spills, and frequent room use.

The theme is Library & Literacy Inspiration, broadly interpreted, seeking designs that celebrate reading, learning, imagination, and storytelling while being visually engaging, timeless, and inclusive. The total budget for the mural project is $6,000, inclusive of all artist fees, materials, supplies, travel, insurance, and any other expenses. Payment is 50% ($3,000) upon execution of the Artist Agreement and approval of the design, and 50% ($3,000) upon final inspection and acceptance of the completed mural. Open to artists residing in Texas, with applications requiring 1-20 work samples and demonstrating experience with mural work or large-scale painting.
