About This Call
"Art for the Animals" is an exhibition supporting the Kansas City Zoo. Entry fee is $27. The exhibition runs from Wednesday, October 2nd through Thursday, October 24th, 2019.
A private Thursday Night Artist Reception will be held October 3rd from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, hosted by Kansas City Zoo board members and employees to meet artists and purchase art. A First Friday Group Art Show will take place October 4th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and is free for the general public. The gallery will award 1 artist and 1 photographer a 1-year residency in the Jones Cyber Gallery. Proceeds from sales are split 50/50 between artists and the Kansas City Zoo, with no commission charged by the gallery. The gallery will pay artists by Saturday, November 9th. Art purchased during the show may be taken by patrons at the time of payment. Artists are notified by email of sales and should have replacement art ready at their earliest convenience; out-of-state artists are not required to replace sold work.
Local artists must deliver artwork Friday, September 27th (11am-7pm) or Saturday, September 28th (11am-5pm). All art must be labeled on the back with artist's name, title, media, price, and contact information, and must be wired on the back ready to hang. Pick-up is Friday, October 25th (11am-7pm) or Saturday, October 26th (11am-5pm). National artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance. All shipments must include a prepaid return shipping label. Artwork must be shipped in strong, reusable cartons with reusable packing material. Unsold artwork will be returned within two weeks following the closing date. The Jones Gallery exercises care in handling artwork but does not assume liability for loss or damage; artists are responsible for independently insuring their work. Work samples should include 3-5 images. Artists not delivering work in the required timeframe without contacting the gallery will be disqualified with no refund. Unclaimed work after 45 days from the last day of the show will be donated to the Kansas City Zoo.
