About This Call
The Kansas City Artists Coalition seeks proposals for exhibitions and an international residency program. KCAC is a space for innovative and experimental art that does not readily lend itself to commercial venues. The coalition's exhibitions explore the diversity of expression that shape contemporary culture, art, and ideas.
Applications must be of original work completed in the last two years and not previously shown in The Artists Coalition's Galleries. All media is eligible. Work requiring special installation, including large or heavy works, will be accepted only if the artist is available to install the work. Video artists must provide projectors for installations. Artists must submit 10-20 images and up to 3 videos. KCAC carries fine art insurance, but artists must insure their work to and from the gallery. KCAC takes a 30% commission on works sold.
KCAC produces 7-8 exhibitions annually in the Mallin Gallery (1,420 sq ft, 12 ft ceiling, 109 linear feet of hanging space) and the Jacqueline B. Charno Gallery (690 sq ft, 12 ft ceiling, 88 linear feet of hanging space). The Underground Gallery (140 linear feet of hanging space, 102 inch ceiling) is available for current KCAC members only. Work must have been completed in the past two years. Open to all artists, with special interest in artists from the Midwest and artists of color.
The International Residency program provides 4-12 weeks of residency in a shared studio space (approximately 900 sq ft with north windows and outdoor patio access). Maximum 4 artists. Private single rooms (approximately 100 sq ft) are $900 per month with additional days at $30 per day. Private double rooms (approximately 265 sq ft) are $1,200 per month with additional days at $40 per day. Rooms include access to shared bathrooms, kitchen, and living room. International visual artists receive priority. USA-based artists are also welcome to apply. Artists must be able to communicate in English. The program seeks dedicated artists who create visual artwork of exceptional quality and whose work and career would benefit from an international exchange with peers. The program is especially geared toward artists from abroad who have never before worked in the United States.
