Kansas City Artists Coalition Proposals 2017-2018

The Kansas City Artists Coalition seeks proposals for exhibitions in its galleries. KCAC is a space for innovative and experimental art that does not readily lend itself to commercial venues. The coalition produces 7-8 exhibitions annually across multiple gallery spaces.

Applications must be of original work completed in the last two years and not previously shown in The Artists Coalition's Galleries. All media is eligible. Work requiring special installation, including large or heavy works, will be accepted only if the artist is available to install the work. Video artists must provide projectors for installations and submit video stills with a link to videos online. Selected proposals will be scheduled beginning in the summer of 2017.

The Mallin Gallery is a 1,420 square foot loft-type gallery with 12-foot ceilings and 109 feet of linear hanging space. The Jacqueline B. Charno Gallery is 690 square feet with 12-foot ceilings and 88 feet of linear hanging space. The Underground Gallery, a members-only space, has 140 feet of linear hanging space and 102-inch ceilings; only current KCAC members are eligible for exhibitions here. KCAC carries fine art insurance but artists must insure their work to and from the gallery. KCAC takes a 30% commission on works sold. Artists will be notified when decisions have been made. KCAC makes decisions to award solo, two-person, or group exhibits. Artists may also apply for a residency via this call. Open to all artists, with special interest in artists from the Midwest. Artists of color are encouraged to apply. Submit 10-20 images of work samples.
