Kansas City Artists Coalition Exhibition Proposals 2019-2020

The Kansas City Artists Coalition's Exhibition Series explores the diversity of expression that shapes contemporary culture, art, and ideas. KCAC is a space for innovative and experimental art, which does not readily lend itself to commercial venues. The organization produces 7-8 exhibitions every year across multiple galleries and selects artists from an annual call.

Applicants must submit 10-20 images, an artist's statement, and a CV or resume. Optional materials include links to websites, PDFs of reviews, catalogs, show announcements, and videos. All media is eligible. Work must be original, completed in the last two years, and not previously shown in The Artists Coalition's Galleries. Selected proposals will be scheduled beginning in summer 2019. Work requiring special installation, including large or heavy pieces, will be accepted only if the artist is available to install the work. Video artists should submit video stills and provide links to videos online. KCAC has 3 monitors available; otherwise artists must provide projectors for video installations.

KCAC operates four galleries with different eligibility requirements. The Mallin Gallery (1,420 sq ft) is open to all artists, including national and international artists. The Jacqueline B. Charno Gallery (690 sq ft) is for regional and local artists. The Underground Gallery (1,900 sq ft) is members-only. The Project Room is a 3-week Snap Space gallery for experimental exhibitions by artists 35 years old and younger; exhibitors are encouraged to facilitate workshops, demonstrations, talks, or panels. KCAC carries fine art insurance but artists must insure their work to and from the gallery. KCAC takes a 30% commission on works sold.
