Juried Student Opportunity for MFA Studio Arts Candidates

The Steffen Thomas Museum of Art invites submissions from MFA students enrolled in Georgia University Art programs for an upcoming juried exhibition and mentorship opportunity.

This juried exhibition provides not only an opportunity for students to exhibit their work at a fine arts museum, but also to learn from assigned mentors about curating, loan forms and condition reports, art installation, exhibit promotion, and public speaking.

Monetary awards will be granted to the top three Best in Show artworks:
1st Place: $750
2nd Place: $500
3rd Place: $250

The submission deadline is August 29, 2026. Please provide the following information to submit artwork:
-Artist Name
-Mailing Address
-Phone Number
-Email Address
-Bio (250 words maximum)
-Artist Statement (150 words maximum)
-High Resolution Images of 3-5 works created within the past year (2D or 3D accepted)
-Maximum Size Artwork Dimensions: 72 x 60 inches
-Maximum Weight: 50 pounds

*Please note: Artists are responsible for transportation of artwork to and from the museum.

About STMA: The mission of the Steffen Thomas Museum of Art is to provide opportunities to engage, learn, and be inspired through Steffen Thomas's life, art, and legacy. This single-artist museum is dedicated to preserving and exhibiting the artwork and archives of German-American Master Artist Steffen Thomas. STMA fulfills its mission by using its large permanent collection of sculpture, paintings, mosaics, ceramics, furniture, works on paper, personal papers,a nd artifacts documenting the artist's life.

The collection is used to:
-Demonstrate creative artistic expression
-Enable people of all ages to discover and develop their talents
-Foster a deeper understanding of self
-Encourage awareness of the connection between humankind with the environment and other living beings
