Juried Show: STRIP - Caricatures, Satire and The Funnies

The Studio Door invites artists and cartoonists to submit work for a juried exhibition celebrating comic strips, caricatures, and pop art. The exhibition runs July 3-26, 2015 at The Studio Door in San Diego, CA, with an opening reception on July 3 from 6-9 PM.

Accepted media includes painting, drawing, photo, printmaking, assemblage, collage, mixed media, fiber art, artist book, ceramics, stained glass, and sculpture. Related works may include pop art, comic book pages, and pulp fiction covers referential to print media. Digital prints, photographic reproductions, fan art, and works using copyrighted characters are not accepted. Work must be original and ready to hang or display professionally. Two-dimensional work maximum size is 4 feet height by 4 feet width including frame. Three-dimensional work must fit a 16-inch by 16-inch pedestal or occupy no more than 4 feet of gallery floor space.

Entry fee is $35 for one submission, $40 for two submissions, or $45 for three submissions. Submit 1-3 images of artwork through CaFÉ online. Deadline for submission is May 20, 2015 at midnight MST. Juror Javier Hernandez will select works for both the physical gallery and online exhibition. Three works will receive Juror's Award ribbons and certificates, with one designated "Best in Show" for the exhibition catalog cover. Artists will be notified by June 2, 2015. Hand-delivery of artwork is June 27, 2015 (noon-7 PM), or artwork may be shipped to arrive by June 26, 2015. Artwork will be returned July 29, 2015. Artists receive 60% of sales; The Studio Door retains 40%.
