About This Call
Silverwood Park invites artists who are at least 18 years old and reside primarily in the Midwest to submit work for a juried exhibition titled The Nature of Disappearance, running October 10 - November 30, 2019. The juror is Mara Duvra.
The exhibition asks artists to reflect on the environmental crisis and loss at stake. Human activity impacts ecosystems across the planet, causing nature to vanish at accelerated rates. Artists are invited to submit work that encourages viewers to recognize what we stand to lose and inspires transformative change to preserve and protect what remains. Work can be 2-D and 3-D, representational or abstract. Framed work should not measure more than 40 inches in width. 3-D work must fit on a 15 x 15 inch pedestal or be freestanding. Video is accepted.
Submission Requirements: 1-5 images (audio and video also accepted). One PDF document including name, phone number, email address, 1-2 page resume, and 1 page artist statement. Application Deadline: August 1, 2019 by 11:59 pm. Notification by email: September 9. Delivery by shipment: September 23-October 1 or by drop-off: September 25-October 1. Opening Reception: October 10 from 6-8 pm. Return of artwork: December 1-4 for artist pick-up or week of December 2 for return shipping. Artists are responsible for all shipping fees and insurance. Silverwood retains a 25% commission on work sold in the gallery. For questions, contact Eileen Cohen at 763-694-2091 or [email protected].
