About This Call
Wickford Art Association invites submissions for Journeys Onward, an exhibition exploring the artistic expression of veterans and their families in the context of their military experiences. The exhibition creates an opportunity for artists to share their past experiences and journeys onward through 2D or 3D art accompanied by written words reflecting military experiences of veterans—retired or currently serving—or their family members.
Eligible artists must be at least 18 years old and either current or past members of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Reserve Corps, or National Guard), or immediate family members (parent, sibling, child, spouse, grandparent, or grandchild) of such members. Eligible artists do not have to be U.S. residents or citizens. All 2D and 3D media are accepted. Artwork must be original creations, exhibition-ready, and no larger than 44 inches on the longest side including frame. Artists may submit up to 10 images. A short written statement of the artwork's relevance to the veteran experience is required.
Entry fee for non-members is $25 for the first image and $15 for each additional image. WAA members receive a 20% discount ($20 for first image, $12 for each additional). Accepted work must be delivered in person on Tuesday, May 15 (11 AM–6 PM) or Wednesday, May 16, 2019 (11 AM–3 PM), or shipped to arrive by Friday, May 10, 2019. The exhibition runs May 17–June 16, 2019, with an opening reception on Sunday, May 19, 2019 (1–3 PM). Artists will be notified of acceptance by Wednesday, April 10, 2019.
