About This Call
This public art opportunity seeks one three-dimensional, free-standing sculpture to be installed adjacent to the main entrances of the Jacksonville Jaguars' new sports performance center. The sculpture should not include a light feature and must measure 15'-20'h X 5'-7'w X 5'-7'd with a weight of no more than 1,000 lbs. Materials may include metal, stone, glass, and/or other alternative or repurposed materials. The sculpture must withstand hurricane wind gusts of 145 mph.
Artists must be over 21 years old, not currently enrolled in a formal degree program, and have been creating and installing public art for more than seven years. The project budget is $100,000 and includes all costs to the artist: artwork proposals, engineering, permitting, fabrication, shipping, delivery, storage (if applicable), insurance, travel, and installation. A pre-fabricated concrete base with footer and electricity (if applicable) will be provided by the client.
Applications must include an artist statement, current resume emphasizing public art experience, a minimum of 2 completed projects in 8 images and up to 2 videos (120 seconds each), a colorized sketch or computer rendering of the proposed concept design shown from front, back, and side with dimensions included, and a narrative describing the artwork's symbolism, intention, and technical detail. The application deadline is October 28, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Commissioned artist notification is scheduled for November 21-23, 2022, with final design due January 4, 2023, and site installation June 1-10, 2023.
