The primary medium is steel. The project budget is $4,000 per artwork or $8,000 total for both pieces. The budget includes all costs to the artist including artwork proposals, fabrication, shipping/delivery, insurance, travel, and applicable sales tax. The client will provide site preparation and assist with installation.
Artists must be over 21 years old, not currently enrolled in a formal degree program, and have been creating and installing public art for more than three years. Application materials must be submitted by October 28, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MST and include an artist statement, resume emphasizing public art experience, a minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 images (up to 2 videos of 120 seconds each), a colorized sketch or computer rendering of the proposed design shown from front, back, and side with dimensions included, and a narrative describing the artwork's symbolism, intention, and technical detail. The artwork must be appropriate for permanent exterior exhibit and pass hurricane rating once installed.
Key project dates include client review and voting on top three selections November 4-18, 2022; commissioned artist notification November 21-23, 2022; contract execution November 21-30, 2022; final design due January 4, 2023; site preparation and installation June 1-10, 2023; and grand opening dedication ceremony scheduled for summer 2023.
