About This Call

The Center for the Arts is calling for proposals from individual artists or small artist teams for the Theater Gallery and the Courtyard exhibition spaces. The Theater Gallery is an approximately 35 foot long transitional hallway from the theater to the education pavilion with exhibition space on both walls. The theater hosts over 100,000 audience members every year. The Courtyard is an outdoor graveled area, roughly 30' by 30', visible through glass on 3 sides and from the outdoor space above.

Six open slots are available for the Theater Gallery, ranging from 2.5 weeks to 6 weeks. Two 5.5 month slots are open for sculpture in the Courtyard space. The jury includes Abbie Miller (MFA from Cranbrook Institute, fiber artist and sculptor), Lisa Hatchadoorian (curator and formerly Director at the Nicolaysen Museum in Casper, Wyoming), and Carin Rodenborn (MFA from Rutgers, painter and installation artist on faculty at Texas State University). The jury will focus on providing diverse, high quality art experiences for the community, considering both cutting edge contemporary art and traditional media with fresh vision. Selection criteria include excellence, contemporary vision, technical expertise, and suitability for the space.

Both emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply. Work can be offered for sale, with the Center taking a 30% commission. The Center will provide online marketing, limited print marketing, and an opening reception. Artists are responsible for transporting work to and from the Center and for installation. The exhibition space is open to the public daily and is not monitored; exhibiting work is at the artist's risk. Eligibility: artists must reside in Wyoming or Teton County, Idaho. Submission requirements: 5-10 images (preferably proposed work or very similar work), current CV, and a one-page proposal statement including details on availability timeframe. Entry fee: $25.
