About This Call
The International Visual Literacy Association (IVLA) invites submissions for a virtual exhibition, "Art and Memory," presented in conjunction with the 2025 IVLA conference, "The Power of Images in Sacred and Festive Spaces." This exhibition explores how images, visuals, and symbols capture, preserve, and transform personal and collective memory. Visual work addressing connections between art and memory is welcome, whether through personal storytelling, reflections on history, or expressions of cultural identity.
Submissions are accepted across a wide range of mediums, including two- and three-dimensional artworks, professional and research visualizations, and experimental visual explorations. Applicants must self-select one of three categories: Studio Practice (visually based projects in 2D and 3D), Professional Practice (client-based or contractual work), or Research Practice (exploratory, experimental, or cross-disciplinary projects). Work must have been created in the past 3 years. Use of AI tools must be disclosed and cited with description of prompt, tool, version, and date created.
Submission Deadline: June 10, 2025. Submission Notification: July 1, 2025. Entry fee: $15.00 for non-IVLA members, $10.00 for IVLA members per submission. Up to 2 applications allowed per artist. Submissions require 1-6 high-quality JPEG images (300 dpi, no greater than 1600 px on longest side, file size not exceeding 3MB). Application requirements include name, location, title, institutional affiliation if applicable, website/social media handles, work title, medium, category, and 150-word work description. For graduate/post-graduate/doctorate work, include institutional name and program. For professional category submissions, include institution name and location, publication information, client name and location, and collaborator details. Contact: [email protected]
