About This Call

Indiana University East's Fine Arts Department, with the support of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, invites artists to submit entries to the third themed national juried art exhibition. This year's theme is "Histories and Memories." Artists are invited to submit two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and video work (no installation or performance) that address this theme. The terms "histories and memories," pluralized intentionally, can be interpreted broadly: personal, private, public, cultural, art historical, political, etc. Works in which personal experiences and memories are points of departure as well as those addressing collective history and memory are welcome.

Accepted work will be exhibited at the Tom Thomas Gallery in Whitewater Hall at Indiana University East from January 23rd to March 3rd, 2017. All accepted artists will receive a complimentary softcover exhibition catalog. The juror is Joshua Hagler, a Los Angeles-based artist whose work spans painting, installation, video, animation, and book-making.

Eligibility: All artists residing in the U.S. and aged 18 and older are welcome to submit original works of art. Entry fee is $20 for the first entry and $5 for each additional work. Maximum of 5 images may be submitted. Two-dimensional entries may not exceed 48" in width and 60" in height; three-dimensional works may not exceed 18" in any direction. No entry may weigh more than 40 lbs. Submission deadline is November 30th, 2016 at midnight EST for digital submission via www.callforentry.org. Entry fees must be received by December 2nd. Awards include: 1st place $1000, 2nd place $500, 3rd place $250, and two Honorable Mentions at $150 each. All works must be shipped via UPS or FEDEX in reusable containers with return-shipping labels. Artists are responsible for shipping costs.
