About This Call
The Golden Public Art Commission seeks artists to create small-scale, site-specific public art installations for the Itty Bitty Art Project 2023. There are 14 sites available in the Parfet Park area in Downtown Golden, including tree hollows, rock structures, and walls. The general public will discover these outdoor art pieces as tiny art treasures. These installations are intended to be ephemeral, lasting between 12 and 24 months when exposed to outdoor conditions.
Submissions should consist of detailed conceptual drawings or renderings that clearly reference the selected location. Artists may select up to 3 possible locations in one application and may apply multiple times. Proposals must be site-specific, illustrating the art style intended for each location and using the unique aspects of the design. Artists can use any medium but must ensure the work will last 12 to 24 months. Artists must work only within their designated area without expanding beyond it or destroying surfaces. All surrounding areas must be cleaned and left in good condition. No racist or political symbols, hate messages, pornography, or pornographic elements are permitted.
Each selected artist will be paid $500 per completed piece. This opportunity is open to artists of all levels and ages. The entry fee is $12, which allows for up to 3 site proposals. The application deadline is July 30, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artist selections will be made approximately one week after the call closes, and completed works are due by September 10th. Artists should reside in the region, as they will be responsible for creation and installation of their artwork.
