It's Elemental! Photo Competition

It's Elemental! Photo Competition is a juried photography competition hosted by Stein Ward Studio open to amateur and professional photographers worldwide. The competition recognizes photographers for their work with over $500 in cash and prizes awarded. Selected works will be placed in the studio's online gallery. Color, black and white, grayscale, monochrome, and sepia works are accepted. Entries should specifically emphasize a combination of elements including line, shape, form, perspective, texture, color, size, depth, symmetry, asymmetry, contrast, light, and shadow.

The competition offers two divisions: amateur (photographers who take photos as a hobby and not for primary income) and professional (photographers whose main source of income is selling photography). Entry fee is $35 for 1-3 entries. Images must be in JPG format, minimum 1200 pixels on the longest side, and maximum 5MB in size. Photos may be produced from traditional analog film cameras, mirrorless, DSLR, mobile phones, or other devices. Minor adjustments and composite photos (where both photos are original work by the photographer) are acceptable. No signatures, names, logos, watermarks, frames, or borders should appear on the work.

Awards include Best of Show Amateur ($100 cash plus 2 free entries into future calls valued at $70) and Best of Show Professional ($100 cash plus 2 free entries valued at $70). Honorable Mention selections receive free entries into future calls valued at $35. For every 100 entries, the studio adds an extra $50 in prize money split evenly between the two Best of Show winners. Selected entries will be juried by an anonymous committee and displayed in the online gallery beginning October 18, 2023. Entries are accepted June 15 - October 15, 2023, with jury selection October 15-16 and notifications emailed on or before October 16, 2023. Only family-friendly work without nudity, graphic content, vulgar text, or suggestive images will be accepted.
