About This Call
IT'S ALL IN THE INTERPRETATION is a juried exhibition and charity event for the American Cancer Society held at Gallery 526 (526 Northwood Road, West Palm Beach, Florida). The exhibition brings together photographers and artists who partner to create two separate bodies of work based on a single photographic image. Each photographer is paired with a jury-selected artist who interprets the photographer's image in their own style and medium.
Photographers may submit up to three images in one of four categories: Florida Landscapes, Digital Art/Abstract, Pop Art, or Windows and Doors. Entry fee is $35.00 for up to three submissions. Artists may also submit up to three submissions for $35.00 to showcase their work in various interdisciplinary styles and mediums. Submissions must be in JPEG format, capped at 5MB, with a minimum of 1500 ppi on the longest edge. Selected photographers must produce a 16 x 20 high-resolution print (300 ppi minimum) that can be framed or custom printed on metal, acrylic, or wood panel. Selected artists will create their interpretation using painting, collage, encaustic, mono-print, ink, pencil, charcoal, colored pencil, oil pastel, or mixed media on a 16 x 20 canvas, linen board, or panel.
Deadline for entry is August 20, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Juried selection and notification occurs August 25, 2021. Selected work must be delivered ready to hang by September 30, 2021. A preview and sale runs October 1-29, 2021, with a charity event on Saturday, October 30, 2021. Both photographic images and artwork will be available for sale. Artist commission is 30% of sale price, Gallery 526 receives 30%, and the American Cancer Society receives 40% of each sale. Commissions will be paid within 10 days in November.
