About This Call
"Empowerment vs. Exploitation" is an international exhibition running February 7 - March 26, 2023 at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. The Center invites original 2D or 3D artwork, written word, lighting, sound, and film that fosters conversation about gender-based issues including discrimination, media objectification, sexual exploitation, and intimate partner violence. Artists are encouraged to challenge societal views and address how we move away from exploitation and empower ourselves and others. The Center has six galleries with spaces that can accommodate complete transformation with lighting and sound and large sculptural pieces. Proposals for programmatic content are also considered.
This call is open to artists worldwide, both amateur and professional. Work must have been produced within the last five years. All styles and aesthetics are considered. Entry fees are $25 for members or $30 for non-members for the first entry, with $5 for each additional entry (up to 20 total). A Juror's Choice award of $1,000 cash will be given. Notification of acceptance will be sent by January 7, 2023. Work must be submitted as JPEG images (1,200 pixels minimum on longest side, 5 MB maximum). Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery. The Center charges a 30% commission on sales for members and 40% for non-members. Work that is copied or done under instructor guidance is not eligible. All work must be hang/presentation ready.
