ir*reality

ir*reality is an exhibition at ArtVale Gallery in Oakland, CA running September 29 - November 18, 2017. The concept of irreality emphasizes not just the 'not real' but some form of estrangement from our generally accepted sense of reality. Artists are invited to submit artworks which address their sense of irreality, particularly in light of the past year and how perceptions of reality have changed to irreality since the 2016 election.

Eligibility: All artists 18 and over currently residing in the greater Bay Area region are eligible to apply. Submissions must be 2D and 3D works measuring less than 48 inches in any dimension. Submit 1-6 images with medium, dimensions, title, and any relevant installation information. Entry fee is $30. Application submissions are due by midnight September 15, 2017. Artists will receive acceptance notifications no later than 5pm Monday September 18, 2017. All artwork must be delivered to ArtVale Gallery by Monday September 25, 2017.

All artwork must be for sale. Artists will receive 60% of the retail price; ArtVale retains a 40% commission on all artwork sold. Payments will be made via PayPal or check within 60 days of the close of the exhibition. The opening reception is Friday September 29th 6-9pm, followed by a special pop up appearance during East Oakland's 10th anniversary Oaktoberfest 2017 on Saturday September 30th 11-7pm and Sunday October 1st 10-5pm.
