INVISIBLE LINKS: BOTANICAL ART & ILLUSTRATION

INVISIBLE LINKS: BOTANICAL ART & ILLUSTRATION is an annual botanical illustration exhibition at Denver Botanic Gardens' Gates Court Gallery. The exhibition runs August 15–October 14, 2018, with a reception on August 19, 1–3 p.m. This year's theme features the hidden, interdependent relationships between species, exploring complex connections between plants and other organisms including predators, pollinators, and parasites.

Eligibility is limited to artists who have participated in classes at Denver Botanic Gardens' School of Botanical Art and Illustration any time after June 2015. Two-dimensional works in any media taught through the School are accepted, including traditional and contemporary approaches. All artwork must be original; photography and digitally generated work will not be accepted, nor will giclée prints or offset lithographs. Each artist may submit up to three works for juror consideration. Submissions are accepted May 1–June 1, 2018, with a deadline of 11:59 p.m. MDT on June 1. Entries must be submitted digitally via CallforEntry.org as JPG files with a minimum of 1920 pixels on the longest side and 5.0 MB maximum. Binomial Latin names are required for all submissions.

Upon acceptance, artwork must be delivered fully matted and not framed, with 4- or 8-ply white rag matting and exterior measurements of exactly 16" x 20". Jury decisions will be announced after June 29. Artwork will be insured by Denver Botanic Gardens while on site. The exhibition will be promoted as a traveling exhibition; artists may be contacted for loan extensions if the exhibition travels. Contact [email protected] with questions.
