About This Call

Intertwined: Contemporary Southeastern Fiber Art is a regional exhibition open to fiber artists in the Southeast. The exhibition will be held at the Hudgens Center for the Arts, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Bldg. 300, Duluth, GA 30097, from January 13 to March 21, 2015. An opening reception is scheduled for January 24, 2015.

Artists may submit up to two works. Entry fee is $30 for up to two entries; Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance (SEFAA) members receive a $10 discount. Submitted work must be original in design, not previously shown in any major gallery or museum, and completed since January 1, 2013 is preferred. All entries must utilize at least one textile- or fiber-based technique (interlaced, felted, stitched, dyed, coiled, knotted, printed, spun, woven, etc.) and can be of any material. Work must not weigh over 75 pounds including mounting hardware and/or armature. Entries are submitted through CaFÉ with 2-6 JPEG images per entry (minimum 2, maximum 3 images per work for initial submission). High-resolution images (300 dpi, minimum 2400 pixels on shortest dimension) must be submitted for accepted work by January 3, 2015.

Accepted work must arrive by January 6, 2015, and may be hand delivered January 3, 5, or 6, 2015, 10 am to 5 pm, or shipped via carrier. All shipping and insurance costs are the artist's responsibility. Work will be returned only if a check for return postage and shipping insurance is included with the initial shipment. The juror is Dorothy Moye, an artist's agent, art consultant, curator, and administrator with over 25 years of experience. Awards include a "Best in Show" award of $1,000 and three "Honorable Mention" awards of $200 each. The Hudgens Center for the Arts will insure all displayed work. Sales are encouraged with the Hudgens taking a 30% commission. Artists may donate up to 70% of sales proceeds to SEFAA.
