About This Call
Intertwined 2025: Contemporary Southeast Fiber Art is a survey of contemporary fiber art in the Southeast, showcasing a wide range of content, materials, and techniques with common threads of craftsmanship and passion.
Eligibility: Open to all artists working in one or more fiber techniques and living in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee. Submitted work must utilize at least one textile- or fiber-based technique (interlaced, felted, stitched, dyed, coiled, knotted, printed, spun, woven, etc.) and can be of any material. Work must be original in design and completed since January 1, 2023. Work must not weigh over 50 pounds including any mounting hardware and/or armature. Nudes and figure studies are acceptable. Images of graphic violence, specific political agenda, and/or pornography will not be accepted. Submit up to two entries at $35 per entry. Submit 1-3 images per entry (minimum 1 overall view with up to 2 detail images). Include a brief artist statement (less than 1,000 characters). Photographic images should accurately represent your work; image editing is limited to cropping and adding or modifying a solid background of white, black, or gray.
Exhibition Details: The exhibition will be held at Turner Center for the Arts, 527 North Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31601. Entry deadline is August 20, 2025. Notification of acceptance via email on October 1, 2025. Hand delivery of accepted work: November 3-6, 2025 (deadline November 6, 2025 at 5 pm). Exhibition opens November 10, 2025 with opening reception 5-7 pm and closes January 7, 2026. Pickup/return of exhibited work: January 8-9, 2026. Accepted work must remain on exhibit through January 7, 2026 with no exceptions. Awards: 1st Place $800, 2nd Place $500, 3rd Place $300, Two Honorable Mentions (Ribbons). Jurors: Marcia Young and Mary Edna Fraser. Sales of exhibited work are allowed; Turner Center takes a 30% commission. The gallery will insure all work displayed during the exhibition. The artist is responsible for ensuring their work during transport/delivery. All shipping costs are the responsibility of the artist.
