Intertwined 2020: Contemporary Southeastern Fiber Art

Intertwined 2020: Contemporary Southeastern Fiber Art is a survey of contemporary fiber art in the Southeast. The exhibition will showcase a wide range of content, material, and techniques with the common threads of craftsmanship and passion.

Eligibility is open to all artists working in one or more fiber techniques and living in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee. Submitted work must utilize at least one textile- or fiber-based technique (interlaced, felted, stitched, dyed, coiled, knotted, printed, spun, woven, etc.) and can be of any material. Work must be original in design and completed since January 1, 2018. Work must not weigh over 50 pounds including any mounting hardware and/or armature. Nudes and figure studies are acceptable. Images of graphic violence, specific political agenda, and/or pornography will not be accepted.

Entry fee is $25 per entry, with a $5 discount for Southeast Fiber Arts Alliance members. Submit up to two entries, with 1-3 images per entry. Accepted work must remain on exhibit through July 29, 2020. The exhibition will be held at the Quinlan Visual Arts Center, 514 Green Street NE, Gainesville, GA 30501 (April 16 - June 6, 2020) and will then travel to the Turner Center for the Arts, 527 North Patterson St., Valdosta, GA 31601 (June 15 - July 29, 2020). Juror Dorothy Moye will select awards: 1st Place - $800, 2nd Place - $500, 3rd Place - $300, and Two Honorable Mentions - Ribbons. Notification of acceptance will be sent via email on February 29, 2020. Hand delivery of accepted work is April 6-10, 2020, with a delivery deadline of 5 pm on April 10, 2020. All shipping and shipping insurance costs are the responsibility of the artist. Sales of exhibited work are allowed, with commissions of 40% at Quinlan and 30% at Turner.
