About This Call
INTERSTATE is a national juried exhibition hosted by the Sarah Spurgeon Gallery at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington. The inaugural bi-annual exhibition runs February 24–March 15, 2015. All proceeds support student scholarships in the CWU Department of Art. The Sarah Spurgeon Gallery, founded in 1969, is dedicated to contemporary art exhibits and related outreach programs that enhance, engage, and challenge viewers' knowledge and understanding of art.
The exhibition is open to artists over 18 working in 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional, and video formats (installation is not eligible). Works must be original, with the artist as sole copyright holder, and cannot exceed 4 feet in any direction or weigh more than 70 pounds. The entry fee is $35 for up to three artworks, submitted online by December 15, 2014. One image or video file may be submitted per artwork. Juror Michael Rooks, Wieland Family Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, will select all awards: First Place ($500 and a solo exhibition during 2015/2016 or 2016/2017), Second Place ($300), Third Place ($200), and three Sarah Spurgeon Gallery Honorable Mentions. Notification of results will be sent by email on or before January 12, 2015. Accepted work must arrive by February 13, 2015. Shipping costs and insurance are the artist's responsibility. An opening reception will be held February 24, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Contact Heather Horn Johnson at [email protected] or 509.963.3153.
