INTERSECTIONS: Considering Imbalance

INTERSECTIONS: Considering Imbalance is the Kahilu Theatre Annual Juried Show, held at The Galleries at Kahilu Theatre from May 10 – June 30, 2018. The exhibition invites artists to examine the idea of an intersection as a starting place to consider the imbalance of the status quo, exploring how cultural, political, economic, and emotional forces converge in our increasingly polarized world.

The call accepts 2D, 3D, and video works completed since January 1st, 2014 by artists currently residing in the State of Hawai'i. Work executed under classroom/educational guidance or external supervision is not eligible. All works must be no larger than 50" x 50" x 50" and must be ready for installation and professionally presented (2D must be framed or mounted with hanging hardware; 3D work must have clear installation instructions). Artists may submit up to five works per entry with a $35.00 submission fee. Awards include First Place $300, Second Place $200, and Third Place $100. The juror is Andi Campognone, a curator and administrator with over 25 years of arts experience.

Entry deadline is April 22, 2018. Notification of accepted works will be sent April 28, 2018, with artwork arrival at Kahilu Theatre by May 7, 2018. The opening reception is May 10, 5-7:00 pm. Artists are responsible for shipping costs both to and from the gallery and must provide a prepaid return shipping label, UPS or FedEx account number, or credit card information for return shipping.
