INTERSECTIONS

Umpqua Valley Arts Association presents INTERSECTIONS, a juried art exhibition exploring the convergence of human invention, society, culture and the natural world. This open call invites artists to submit work examining how technological development affects human society, culture and the natural environment. The exhibition seeks a wide range of perspectives highlighting both the promise and cost of technology, including nuanced interpretations of the theme. Areas for consideration include futurism, social media, computing, artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, medicine, space exploration, energy, the environment, and art-making practices. Work in all media is eligible, including photography, printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed-media, audio, and video.

Eligible to established, mid-career and emerging artists residing in Oregon. Work must have been completed within the past two years and not previously exhibited at UVAA. Submit up to three entries. Printmaking pieces and photographs must be editions. All work must be display-ready upon arrival and fit through a standard 3-foot wide door, weighing less than 50 lbs. Entry fee is $20 for non-members and $10 for members. UVAA commission rates are 30% for members and 40% for non-members. Juror: Tallmadge Doyle, a printmaker, painter and public artist based in Eugene, Oregon.

Exhibit dates: May 15 - June 28, 2020. Opening reception: May 15, 2020 from 5-7pm. Art delivery deadline: May 11, 2020. Artist notification: April 6, 2020. Artwork pickup: Monday, July 8th from 10am-2pm. Work may be hand-delivered or shipped between June 30th and July 6th. Artists are responsible for shipping costs.
