Interpreting Brain and Spinal Fluid Disorders Through Art

Art League Rhode Island is sponsoring a national juried exhibition focused on art depicting interpretations of brain and spinal fluid disorders. The exhibition will be held at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University Gallery, 222 Richmond Street, Providence, Rhode Island from June 14 – August 21, 2019, simultaneously with the 4th Annual CSF Disorders Symposium.

Artists are encouraged to create work that reflects their interpretation of these disorders from their own unique perspective, which may include psychological manifestations, physical expressions, functional changes at the cellular or systemic level, or the emotional toll on patients and families. Only 2-D work is eligible. Artwork must be original, exhibition-ready, and appropriate for viewers of all ages. Maximum size is 48" wide x 72" high including frame. Artists may submit up to 3 artworks for a $30 submission fee ($25 for ALRI members). Accepted work must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibit.

Eligibility: Artists must be 18 years or older. Artwork previously exhibited with ALRI is not permitted. Work found to be copied from copyrighted material will not be hung. Juror: Mary Dondero, Interdisciplinary Artist and Professor of Art at Bridgewater State University. Awards: 1st Prize $300, 2nd Prize $200, 3rd Prize $100. Registration deadline: May 3, 2019. Notification of acceptance: on or before May 17, 2019 via email. Drop-off: Monday, June 10, 2019, 10am-4pm EST. Opening reception and awards: Friday, June 14, 2019, 5:30-8pm EST. Pick-up: Thursday, August 22, 2019, 10am-4pm EST. Sales are encouraged; ALRI takes a 40% commission on sold work, with artists paid their 60% within 30 calendar days after the exhibition closes.
