International Watermedia 2017

International Watermedia 2017 is presented by Pikes Peak Watercolor Society and held at Cottonwood Center for the Arts, 427 East Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. The exhibition runs June 2 through 24, 2017. The juror of selection is Soon Y. Warren AWS, NWS, a full-time artist, teacher, and workshop instructor with signature membership in multiple watercolor societies.

The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years of age or older. Paintings must be predominately watermedia on paper, clay-board, Yupo, illustration board, silk, and canvas. Work must be original and the sole work of the artist, not created in a class or workshop setting. Source material and photographs must be the artist's own. Collage material must be painted by the artist. No computer-generated art or prints are allowed. Work must not be more than 3 years old and not previously shown in a PPWS Watermedia Exhibition. Maximum frame size is 1430 square inches; maximum image size is 1280 square inches; minimum image size is 80 square inches. Framed artwork must be single matted in white or off-white with simple frames only. Digital images must be submitted in jpg format, 72ppi/dpi, no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side, with maximum file size of 5MB.

Entry fees are $40 for non-members or $30 for PPWS members, covering up to three entries. A $25 handling fee is required for shipped artwork. Awards total over $5,000 in cash and merchandise, including Best of Show ($2,000), Gold Award ($1,000), and Founders Award ($250). PPWS will charge 30% commission on sales. Accepted artwork must be shipped to arrive May 22-25 or hand-delivered May 27 (9:00 AM to 4:00 PM). Notification of acceptance is April 27. The Awards Reception is June 21.
