About This Call
Dab Art's juried shows have featured remarkable and notable artists from all over the globe. The venue is H Gallery + Studios, a 1930's-era building located between Malibu and Santa Barbara in the greater Los Angeles area. The vintage industrial charm of H Gallery's vaulted ceilings, suspended display walls and substantial exhibition space create a unique and highly visited gallery. Dab Art's high-caliber reputation and progressive curating style makes this one of the most coveted contemporary exhibitions in Southern California.
Entries will be juried and selected based on technical application, originality and concept. Finalists will be invited to show their work in an eight-week exhibition at H Gallery. Artists selected for this exhibit will be featured along with their photos in a book published by Dab Art titled Good Bokeh: Focusing on Fine Art Photographers. This full-color folio will be added to the permanent catalog in the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) Balch Art Research Library. All exhibiting photographers will receive a gratis issue of Good Bokeh from Dab Art.
Photographers must be at least 18 years old to enter. This is an open theme competition; all subject matters and photographic print mediums are acceptable. Entries require a minimum of 3 images and a maximum of 20 images. Entry fee is $35.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for each image beyond the first three. Cash awards will be given as determined by the jury panel: $300 (Best In Show) and $200 (Runner Up). All finalists selected to exhibit will receive a gratis copy of Good Bokeh: Focusing on fine art photographers. Dab Art will retain 35% of all sales; artwork selected for exhibition must be available for sale. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance of artworks. All shipments must include a prepaid UPS or FED EX return label and be shipped in a container appropriate for re-use in return shipping. No packing peanuts are permitted. Exhibition opens February 1 with an opening reception and book release on February 4 (7-10pm), and closes April 2.
