About This Call
A juried photography exhibition exploring social markers of race, class, and economics. The Rhode Island Center for Photographic Arts invites photographers to explore or document objects, structures, or situations that assign value or status to neighborhoods and communities. This open-ended call seeks images that explore, document, comment on, or reflect on how we inventory the world around us—examining visual markers that indicate neighborhood character, safety, affluence, and community health.
Artists of all levels 18 years or older may submit up to 20 photographs. Entry fee is $25 for the first image and $5 for each subsequent image. Current RICPA members receive a 20% discount. Work must be original, exhibition-ready, and open to all forms of photographic image-making in any process or technology. Maximum size is 48" including frame. The juror is Eric Kunsman, a photographer and Assistant Professor at Rochester Institute of Technology.
Exhibition dates: September 21 – October 13, 2023. Delivery of accepted work is due by September 16, 2023. Reception and awards ceremony: September 21, 2023, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Awards include camera equipment (Fuji Medium Format GFX 50s II for Work in Series Grand Prize; Fuji XT-5 for Individual Image Grand Prize), cash prizes ($150 and $100 for runners-up in each category), and $500 in print services for Best Black & White image. Current paid membership is required for equipment grand prizes; cash prizes are available to all entrants. The gallery retains 40% commission on sales (20% for Supporting & Exhibiting members).
