About This Call
The School of Visual Philosophy invites artists and professionals to submit their ideas and portfolio for an 8-week residency at their studio in San Jose, California. The program creates a holistic learning environment that brings high-caliber artists and experts in various fields of science, technology, history, and humanities together to teach courses collaboratively.
Two instructors will teach a 6-week course collaboratively, with each instructor receiving a competitive wage. Instructors will determine between themselves how the course will be structured and how they will divide the teaching. During the two weeks prior to the course, instructors will receive a stipend to work in the studio, developing their curriculum and syllabus and creating their own work. Each team will have 24-hour access to the studio during the length of the 8-week residency to continue their work, enabling students to work alongside active professionals.
The program aims to provide students with multiple views and expertise through different instructors, allowing them to create their own connections and conceptual processes related to art making. Applicants may submit up to 10 images and 10 total work samples. International applicants are eligible. Entry deadline: January 31, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MST.
