Installation Artworks in ARTSPARK

The Indy Art Center is seeking site-specific, temporary installation artwork proposals for ARTSPARK, a 9.5-acre park featuring interactive sculpture. Artists and artist teams are invited to submit proposals for consideration. One project will be selected and awarded a $1,500 stipend to create and install their work.

The exhibition will be on view May 13–June 13, 2024, spanning the Art Center's annual Broad Ripple Art Fair (May 17–19), youth summer camps, education programming, and special event rentals. The installation will be featured in the Woodland Art Walk area, which includes trees, gravel paths, permanent sculptures, and open-grassy areas. The IAC is open to a variety of media and installation methods, and artists are encouraged to utilize recycled materials, previously installed outdoor works, and ephemeral installations. Potential projects could include lightweight fabric/fiber interventions in tree branches, scattering of found or natural objects, experiences showing material interaction in natural settings, interactive public artworks, or pre-existing free-standing sculpture.

Proposals will be judged based on originality, feasibility, execution, and innovation. All submitting artists will be notified of their status by April 24, 2024. The selected artist is responsible for all fabrication, production, and transportation costs. The IAC exhibitions team will assist with installation, loading, and unloading by confirmed appointment. All artwork must be installed between April 25–May 12, 2024, and remain on display through June 13, 2024. The $1,500 stipend will be split into two payments: $750 upon selection and $750 upon completion of the exhibit and successful de-installation. Artists must be available to install their work during the installation period and must be 18 or older, residing in Central Indiana. Eligibility is geared toward currently enrolled art school students or emerging artists.
