About This Call
Inspired Lines is a drawing biennial presented by the Appleton Museum of Art in Ocala, Florida. The exhibition celebrates the art of drawing on a larger scale than usually seen, featuring an installation of drawings as a cornerstone of artistic practice.
All US artists who excel at drawing are eligible to enter. Entries must be completed between March 2015 and the deadline of March 1, 2016, and pieces must be of original design executed by the entrant. Artists may submit up to two entries, with each entry requiring two JPEG images: one full-view and one detail image for clarification. Image files may be color corrected to accurately represent the work but not enhanced beyond cropping and adding or modifying a solid background of white, black, or gray. Work may not exceed 9 feet in height or 50 lbs in weight. Entry fee is $35.00 per entry.
The exhibition will be juried by Alison Ferris, curator at the John Michael Kohler Art Center. Awards include Best of Show ($1,000), Second Place ($750), and Third Place ($500). The exhibition runs from July 1 to August 28, 2016, with notification of acceptance by April 7, 2016. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping costs and insurance during shipping. The Appleton Museum of Art will insure work while on display. Work must be shipped ready to install with screw eyes and wire, and must remain on display throughout the entire exhibition.
