Inspired by . . .

The Long Beach Creative Group (LBCG) announces an open call for a small works exhibit titled "Inspired by . . ." at The Rod Briggs Memorial Gallery, located at 2221 E. Broadway in Long Beach, CA. The exhibition is open to local artists and artists from Southern California.

The theme explores what compels artists to create, with a broad range of expressions and styles welcome. Original works in the following media are accepted: painting, drawing, printmaking, wall-mount sculpture, sculpture, assemblage, photography, textiles, digital art, and mixed media. Work must have been produced within the last five years and not exceed 16 x 16 inches in any direction, including frame. Each artist may submit a maximum of 3 works, but only one artwork will be selected for the show. The entry fee is $16 (non-refundable); limited fee waivers are available for those experiencing financial hardship. Work will be juried by three guest jurors to be announced later.

Key dates: Submission deadline is August 17. Artists will be notified the week of August 29. Work drop-off is September 10-11, 1-3 PM. The opening reception is September 24-25, with the exhibition running September 24 - October 22. Artists pick up work on October 22. Eligibility: Artists who reside in Southern California, grew up in Long Beach but no longer reside there, or attend/graduated from CSULB or LBCC.
