About This Call
Tamarac Sculpture on Inspiration Way is a public art exhibition seeking original three-dimensional artwork for outdoor display along the corridor of Nob Hill Road between Commercial Boulevard and McNab in Tamarac, Florida. The program aims to enhance quality of life for residents, increase awareness of public art, promote Tamarac as a cultural destination, and provide a showcase for local, regional, and national artists.
Eligibility is open to all artists nationwide creating original three-dimensional artwork of a scale and material suitable for outdoor display. Florida artists are encouraged to apply. Previous experience with outdoor installation of public work is preferred but not necessary. Artwork must be durable and require minimal maintenance, designed to withstand South Florida's subtropical climate with intense sun, heat, humidity, and seasonal heavy rain. Sculptures should be designed to be securely anchored to a concrete pad.
Selected artists will receive a $2,500 honorarium per artwork, paid in two installments ($1,250 after installation and $1,250 after removal). The City will provide a concrete pad and may provide lifting and setting equipment. Artists are responsible for transportation, installation costs, and securing all required permits (permit fees will be reimbursed by the City). A $1,000 cash award will be given for Best of Show. The City has a possible purchase budget up to $60,000 for acquiring works for its public art collection. A 25% commission on works sold during the exhibition will remain with the City. The City will insure each work against damage or theft during the exhibition. Artists or their installers must carry General Liability insurance naming the City as an additional insured, proof of Automobile insurance, and Workers' Compensation insurance during installation and deinstallation. Artwork installation is scheduled for the week of February 20, 2023. Applications are submitted via CAFÉ software with a maximum of three artworks, each represented by up to three digital images. Contact [email protected] or [email protected] with questions.
