About This Call
The City of Tamarac invites artists nationwide to submit proposals for Inspiration Way: Tamarac Sculptures on Nob Hill, a public art exhibition on Nob Hill Road. The project aims to enhance quality of life for residents, increase awareness of public art, promote the city as a cultural destination, and provide a showcase for local, regional, and national artists. Open to all artists creating original three-dimensional artwork suitable for outdoor display. Florida artists are encouraged to apply. Previous experience with outdoor public art installation is preferred but not required.
Selected artists will receive a $2,500 honorarium per artwork, paid in two installments: $1,250 after successful installation in November 2020 and $1,250 after removal by the end of September 2021. The City may purchase one or more works for its public art collection up to $60,000 total budget. A $1,000 cash award will be given for Best of Show. The City will produce publicity materials and promote the exhibition. Sales of exhibited artwork will be encouraged, with the City retaining a 25% commission on works sold during the exhibition.
Artwork must be durable and require minimal maintenance, designed to withstand South Florida's subtropical climate with intense sun, heat, humidity, and seasonal heavy rain. Sculptures should be designed to be securely anchored to a concrete pad. Up to ten finalists will be selected by the Tamarac Public Art Committee based on artistic excellence, variety of styles and media, technical feasibility, durability, and diversity. Installation and deinstallation will be coordinated by the City's contractor. Artists or their representatives must be present for both installation and deinstallation. All artwork must remain on exhibit until the end of the exhibition. The artist is responsible for property insurance if desired, transportation, and any installation costs beyond what the City provides. Identification plaques will be provided for each work.
