INSPIRATION: Studies and Source

INSPIRATION: Studies & Source is a juried photography exhibition exploring the creative process. The call invites artists to submit finished work paired with the source material that inspired it—whether a poem, letter, song, film, postcard, or any other inspiration. Each work will be exhibited alongside its source, showing the beginning and end in harmony.

Media accepted includes photography, digital art, graphic design, scanography, phoneography, and other innovative formats. Submissions must include 5-10 images with corresponding inspiration sources provided in a separate document (Word, PDF, or DOCX). Print files must be 300 DPI quality. Entry fee is $35 for the first five entries, plus $7 per additional entry (maximum 10 works). The deadline for entry is February 3rd, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MST.

Specto Art Space will print, mat, and frame all 20-24 accepted works at no cost to artists. The exhibition will be featured on the gallery's website and social media channels (averaging 20-40k monthly views) and displayed during Superfine! DC 2019 in March 2019. Best in Show winners receive booth space at Superfine! DC Fine Art Fair. Honorable Mention awards include $100 prizes and free entries to the annual portfolio prize application. Artists retain all copyright and can set their own prices for limited edition prints sold through Specto's gallery and website for 60 days following the opening. Specto retains 35% commission on sales. Notification of acceptance will be provided 10-14 days after the deadline.
