In/Of/About Nature

Art Saint Louis presents "In/Of/About Nature," a juried exhibition featuring original artworks that examine the natural world, nature and wilderness. Works submitted should consider, address, celebrate, or explore the natural world from sea to land to sky, including the landscape, the elements, the environment, issues related to climate change, and humanity's impact on nature. Artworks should not include animal imagery, as the juried show that immediately follows is "Creatures III," dedicated to animals, critters, beasts, and creatures. All explorations and interpretations of the theme are welcome, and all media are encouraged. Limit 5 artworks created 2019-2023.

Eligibility is open to artists 18 years of age and older living in the St. Louis, Missouri region and surrounding 200-mile radius. Artists must be residents of the St. Louis region/200-mile radius when the show begins (July 29, 2023) in order to submit work and participate if selected. Entry fees are $25.00 for non-members and $10.00 for Art Saint Louis members. Work samples may include 1-10 images and 0-5 videos (minimum 1 total sample, maximum 10 total samples). The deadline to submit works is May 9, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MST.

Jurors will select awards including one $250 Best of Show Award of Excellence and four non-cash Awards of Excellence, plus up to 3 Honorable Mentions. Award of Excellence recipients will be eligible for the "Honor Awards 2025" ten-artist curated exhibit presented at Art Saint Louis Summer of 2025. The exhibition is presented at Art Saint Louis, 1223 Pine Street in downtown St. Louis, MO 63103, with exhibition dates July 29-September 7, 2023. A free reception is scheduled for August 5, 2023, 5-7 p.m. The Gallery is open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m., closed Sundays and holidays. The jurying process is blind/anonymous, with jurors viewing only artwork title, year, media, dimensions, method of display, and optional artist's statement. Ceiling-installed and floor-installed artworks cannot be exhibited; all 3-D work must be displayed on platforms, pedestals, or otherwise off the ground.
