Innovations in Fiber: A Mixed Media Exhibition

Innovations in Fiber is the 10th Annual Regional Juried Show presented by South Haven Center for the Arts, running September 28 - November 9, 2019 in South Haven, Michigan.

This exhibition seeks work that uses fiber—both natural and manufactured—to push creative expression. Works must include fiber as content and incorporate at least one fiber process or technique. Acceptable materials include paper (traditional, handmade, or non-fiber such as Yupo, Stone paper, and Evolon), fabric (natural or synthetic), plastic, plastic bags, wire, bamboo, wool, plant or food materials, string, yarn, and sticks. Fiber processes include sewing, knitting, weaving, spinning, felting, basketry, embroidery, and netting. The call is open to artists 18 years of age or over in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. All work must be original and completed in the last three years. Size limits: 2D works maximum 72" high x 55" wide; 3D works must fit through a standard doorway and weigh no more than 50 lbs. No installations or ceiling-hung work. Two entries per artist are allowed, with one detail shot permitted.

Entry fee is $30.00 for up to two pieces. Submissions must include digital JPEG images, title, and a brief statement explaining how the piece relates to the theme. Notifications will be sent via email on September 1, 2019. Delivery of accepted work is September 17-21, 2019; shipped work must arrive by September 20, 2019. The opening reception is Saturday, September 28, 2019, 2-4 p.m. Pick-up of artwork is November 12-16, 2019. Awards: $250 for 1st Place and $100 for 2nd Place.
