About This Call
ISEA (International Society of Experimental Artists), a global organization founded in 1991, invites artists 18 years and older to submit original experimental artworks created in the past three years. Only one solo submission per artist is permitted, though each artist may be included in a total of two submissions: one solo and one collaborative. All media are acceptable, including original printmaking, photography, film, and digital works. Commercial reproductions are not acceptable, and works completed in workshops are not eligible.
The exhibition takes place at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, which features five galleries, resident artist studios, a performance hall, and specialized spaces including a former bank vault ideal for sculpture and installation. The entry fee is $55.00. Submissions must include 1-2 work samples (up to 2 images and 1 video). For 2D works, the maximum finished size is 36" wide x 40" high with a 35 lb weight limit. For 3D works, maximum crated weight is 75 lbs with specific dimension requirements depending on installation type. Digital artworks must be supplied ready to execute with all necessary hardware and software. Video submissions may not exceed 10 minutes. A written statement about the experimental aspects of the work is required with each submission.
Key dates: Intake April 1-30, 2023; Jurying May 5-10, 2023; Invitations sent May 15; Shipping to venue September 1-8, 2023; Hand deliveries accepted September 10, 8am-noon; Exhibition September 12 - October 7, 2023; Public reception September 18; Awards presented September 22. All accepted work is eligible for sale; the Cultural Center takes a 15% commission plus a $20.00 handling fee per piece. For safety reasons, artwork must not include sharp protruding elements or perishable media with potential to cause disease, foul smells, or leakage.
