About This Call

The International Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA) invites all artists and collaborative groups of artists, 18 years of age and older, to submit one work of art created in the past three years to this juried exhibition. The exhibition will be held at the Art Gallery of St. Albert in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, running from August 18 to October 1, 2022. ISEA offers over US$14,000 in awards for outstanding submitted works. All accepted artists will receive a copy of a full-color exhibition catalog.

All media are welcome. Artists must submit a short statement (1000 characters or less) describing how the submitted work was experimental in the context of their artistic practice. Original experimental artworks created in the last three years that have not been accepted into any previous ISEA exhibitions may be submitted. Commercial reproductions and works completed in workshops are not eligible. Only one solo submission per artist is permitted, though each artist may be included in a total of two submissions (one solo and one collaborative).

The submission deadline is March 31, 2022. The entry fee is $55.00. Submissions must include 1-2 work samples (either 2 images for 2D works, 2 images for 3D works showing different angles, 1 image for digital works, or 1 video file for film/video submissions). Images must be formatted to 6 inches on the longest side at 300 DPI as high-quality JPG files between 1-5 MB. Video submissions must be in MP4 or AVI format, minimum 640x480 pixels at 12 frames per second, under 100MB. Artwork prices should be in Canadian dollars (CAD) or marked as NFS (not for sale). The juror is Brenda Malkinson, an award-winning cross-disciplinary artist. Notification of accepted artists will be sent by April 15, 2022, with an awards ceremony on September 5, 2022.
