About This Call
The Jundt Art Museum at Gonzaga University will present the Inland Northwest Modern Quilt Juried Exhibition in summer 2023, organized in partnership with the Inland Northwest Modern Quilt Guild (INMOD). The exhibition will run from June 3 to August 26, 2023, with an opening reception and award ceremony on June 2. Selection of works will be made by museum staff based on artistic quality, merit, visual aesthetics, adherence to modern quilting principles, and observance of application guidelines.
Eligibility is restricted to residents of specific counties in the Inland Northwest region: Washington counties include Adams, Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Columbia, Douglas, Ferry, Franklin, Garfield, Grant, Kittitas, Klickitat, Lincoln, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens, Walla Walla, Whitman, and Yakima; Idaho counties include Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Clearwater, Idaho, Kootenai, Latah, Lewis, Nez Perce, and Shoshone. Proof of residency is required. Quilters may submit up to five completed quilts with a one-time $25 entry fee. Each submission must include one image showing the entire quilt, and optionally a PDF or document with detail photos. A one-page biography pertaining to quilting accomplishments and other personal and professional details must be provided.
All quilts must be suitable for museum exhibition installation with appropriate hanging hardware. Larger quilts require a 4-inch finished sleeve sewn to the top back edge; smaller quilts (under 25 inches wide) require a 2-inch sleeve. All quilts should include a flat wood dowel rod for proper hanging. Delivery must occur between 10am Wednesday, May 24, 2023, and 4pm Saturday, May 27, 2023. Installation will take place the week of May 29, 2023. All quilts must be removed between August 28 and August 30, 2023. Quilts will be insured by Gonzaga University while in the museum's custody and will not be for sale. Award prizes include $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, and $250 for honorable mentions. Finalists will be notified by February 3, 2023.
