About This Call
The City of Albuquerque Arts Board seeks small and medium scale works of three-dimensional art made by artists residing in New Mexico. The committee is interested in original works exemplifying compelling craftsmanship and technique in a range of media including wood, stone, aggregates, synthetic materials, metals, paper, fiber, glass, ceramic, mixed media, and assemblage. Works will be exhibited indoors at sites including Albuquerque City Hall, the Albuquerque Convention Center, and other City-owned facilities.
Works must not exceed 40 inches in any one dimension. Wall reliefs must not extend more than 4 inches from the wall surface. All works must be appropriately and professionally fabricated and ready for installation. The Albuquerque Public Art Program will provide pedestals and Plexiglas enclosures as needed. Artwork must be appropriate for public display at any City facility. Works depicting violence, inappropriate nudity, denigration of individuals or cultures, or desecration of significant cultural symbols will be reviewed for appropriateness. Religious subject matter or symbols may be included if not in a location where it can be revered and solely for exhibiting cultural or historical traditions.
$100,000 is available to purchase artworks for the City of Albuquerque Public Art Collection, with the Arts Board hoping to purchase works priced within an average range of $500 to $8,000. Legal residents of New Mexico 18 years or older are eligible to submit. Artists must provide a statement or description of proposed works (not to exceed 500 words), a current resume (not to exceed 500 words), and up to two artwork submissions with title, medium, dimensions, price, and year completed. City employees and their families are eligible to submit works priced under $1,000.
