About This Call
The Regional Arts & Culture Council invites visual artists currently living in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana to submit work for the 2nd Annual Industry & Art juried exhibition and sale. The exhibition celebrates the beauty, skill, diversity, and professionalism of industrial workers through artists' perspectives and promotes awareness of the region's thriving working waterfronts. The event is held at Vigor Industrial on Swan Island, 5555 N Channel Avenue, Portland, Oregon, September 19-23, 2012, and serves as a fundraiser for industrial job training programs and habitat restoration.
Eligible artists must reside in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, or Montana and work in any visual arts discipline. Entries must be original work completed within the last five years. Two-dimensional work can be no larger than 7.5 feet in any direction; sculptural work must fit through a 10-foot by 16-foot door. Video works are eligible and will be presented on flat screen monitors. Artists may submit up to three work samples in any combination of images and videos. The submission deadline is Friday, June 1, 2012, at 11:59 PM Mountain Daylight Time. Applications must be submitted through CaFÉ at www.callforentry.com.
Approximately 40 artworks will be selected for exhibition. All selected artwork must be available for sale. Cash awards include Best of Show, First Place ($3,000), Second Place ($2,000), and Third Place ($1,000). Twenty-five percent of artwork sales and all proceeds from donations go to the WWC Scholarship Fund at Portland Community College Foundation and West Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District. Artists will be notified of selections by July 1, 2012. Site tours are available in April; email [email protected] to reserve a place.
