About This Call
Indiana, Naturally is a nature photography competition sponsored by The Nature Conservancy/Indiana and the Arts Council of Indianapolis. Artists are invited to submit photographs and photo-based artworks highlighting the natural beauty of Indiana for consideration for display at the Indianapolis International Airport for a three-month period beginning in December 2016.
The competition is open to professional and amateur photographers regardless of residence or citizenship, provided they comply with competition rules. Photographers must be age 13 or older; applicants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian co-sign the application. All submitted artworks must be photographs or photo-based images shot within the past five years (2012-2016), with the photographed location within Indiana. Preference will be given to images of The Nature Conservancy preserves within Indiana. Applicants are responsible for obtaining signed model releases from any people depicted in submissions.
Competition divisions include Adult Professional, Adult Amateur, and Youth (ages 13-17). Within each division, photographers may submit up to 3 images in each of four categories—Landscape, Plant Life, Wildlife in Natural Habitat, and Artistic—for a maximum of 12 artworks total. Images will be judged on originality, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit. Selected images will be displayed without regard to division or category. Images in Landscape, Plant Life, and Wildlife categories must be delivered matted and framed (minimum 8" x 10", maximum 24" x 32", with neutral-colored mats and plain silver or black metal/dark wood frames). Artistic category presentations will be discussed individually with selected artists. Recognition includes "Best Of" awards for each division and category, a special "Nature Conservancy Award" for the most evocative portrayal of a Nature Conservancy site, and possible "Juror's Award" recognition.
