About This Call
In Transit is a 2017 open juried international exhibition seeking art connected to travelers and their transit experience in both literal and metaphoric sense. The exhibition highlights tangible and intangible elements of transportation, being in transition, in motion, in-between and neither here nor there—on a journey in all its permutations. The juror is Abigail Newbold, Director of Exhibitions at The Institute of Contemporary Art Boston. A small number of cash awards totaling $1,000 will be given along with some non-cash awards.
Eligibility is open to any artist 18 years or older. All 2D and 3D media is eligible. Artists may submit up to 20 images. Entry fee is $40 (includes first image); each additional image is $15. ALRI members receive discounted rates of $30 entry fee and $9 per additional image. Artwork must be original, exhibition-ready to install with appropriate hardware, and appropriate for viewers of all ages. Maximum size is 48" wide and 72" high including frame. 3D work must have an overall footprint of 24" x 24" or less with a weight limit of 35 lbs. Installation pieces must include detailed descriptions of electrical, lighting, or space requirements. Artwork previously exhibited with ALRI is not permitted.
The exhibition runs September 8 through November 26, 2017 at The VETS Gallery, One Avenue of the Arts, Providence, RI 02903. Notification of acceptance is August 20, 2017 via email.
