In the Time of Climate Change

Organized by the University of Hawaii at Hilo - Art Department for presentation at the Wailoa Center, this international exhibition is open to all artists aged 18 and older. The show will open July 7 and close July 28, 2023. Works completed since 2020 are eligible. Participating artists will receive a color catalog of the exhibition at no cost.

Approximately 90-100 original works will be reviewed and selected by Jared Yazzie, a Diné artist and designer. Eligible media include short film and animation (5 min.), analog and digital 2D media (drawing, collage, print, painting, photography), and 3D assemblage and sculpture. Awards for Best of Show, 2nd, and 3rd place are $1,000, $600, and $300 respectively.

Hawaii island residents may submit 2D works completed since 2020 up to 7' (h) x 10' (w) in size, and 3D work no larger than 10' height. Two-dimensional works must be matted and framed, and delivered to the Wailoa Center on July 1, 2023 between 10:00 am-2:00 pm. Outer island and out-of-state entrants must ship works to the University of Hawaii at Hilo, Art Department, 200 West Kawili Street, Hilo, HI 96720, received by June 6, 2023. Two-dimensional works on paper no larger than 30" x 40" can be submitted unmatted and unframed and will be professionally presented and framed by the UH Hilo Art Department, then returned at close of show. Entry fee is $35.
