In the Distance

The Rhode Island Watercolor Society is hosting an online juried exhibition titled "In the Distance." The theme invites artists to create pieces that exemplify or exaggerate distance and perspective. Artists may take a direct approach with landscapes featuring distant backgrounds or interpret the theme in a more abstract way.

The exhibition is open to all 2D media excluding photography and digital art. Acceptable mediums include watercolor, gouache, acrylic, oils, ink, casein, and egg tempera on any 2D surface. Work must not have been exhibited in a previous Rhode Island Watercolor Society juried show, must have been completed within the last 10 years, and must be original work not copied from copyrighted material or created under the direct guidance of another or following a tutorial. There is no size limit. The exhibition runs November 22 - December 26, with an online opening reception on Thursday, December 4 at 6pm ET on Zoom. Notification of acceptance is November 21.

Entry fee is $15 per image for non-members and $10 per image for members. Submit 1-3 images. The juror is Jo Ellen Reinhardt. Over $300 in cash prizes will be awarded. If work is sold through the online gallery, the Rhode Island Watercolor Society receives 35% of the sale. Work may be listed as not for sale by contacting [email protected]. Eligibility is open to all artists in the United States.
