In the Deep End - A Juried Exhibition

"In the Deep End" is a juried exhibition for art that takes risks. The show seeks work that plunges into uncharted territory, ventures to the frontiers of artistic practice, or explores the boundaries of art itself. Gallery 114, one of the oldest artist collectives in the Northwest, is located in Portland's Pearl district. The gallery's mantra is "expect the unexpected," and this January 2017 annual juried exhibit features innovative artists who break barriers, test boundaries, and explore their personal terra incognita.

All 2 and 3 dimensional media are welcome. Works must be original, with individual pieces not exceeding 7 feet in height and 5 feet in width. Prices for a single piece should not exceed $5,000. The entry fee is $30 for three submissions. Submissions are accepted through December 4, 2016, with early submissions welcome. Selected artists will be notified on December 8, 2016.

Accepted works must arrive by 5 PM on December 30, 2016. Artists may hand deliver to Gallery 114 or ship via FedEx only. Artists are responsible for all shipping and return shipping costs, including insurance. Each accepted entry must be installation-ready, framed or encased with appropriate hanging hardware and installation instructions, clearly labeled with the artist's name and work title. The opening reception is Thursday, January 5, 2017, 6-9 PM, and the show runs through January 28, 2017. Gallery 114 will insure works while on site for the indicated insurance value. Gallery 114 may photograph work for reproduction on the gallery website, press releases, and social media.
